Galiano Island Books hosts the annual Galiano Island Literary Festival in February–for a few reasons, not the least of which being that we wanted to attract visitors to the island in an otherwise quiet time – to help provide businesses with a little off-season boost and to help establish Galiano Island as a “year round” rather than “seasonal” destination. The weather has always cooperated and visitors and authors have raved about the island and many have come back to visit.
The annual Galiano Literary Festival on Galiano Island, gathers some of the best B.C. writers, rather than parachuting writers from afar, so it’s a superb celebration of local culture—and local customs—in an intimate and casual setting.

The 4th Annual Galiano Literary Festival
The festival was designed with readers in mind and the organizers strive to create an intimate and interactive environment for participants, where they can chat with their favourite writers over coffee and muffins in the morning, have their books signed after a reading, or sit next to them at the Authors’ Dinner and talk. Writers sit in and participate in each other’s events and have lots of time to interact with attendees.
Kung Fu for Writers Workshop – Galiano 2013
I will be returning to beautiful Galiano Island this weekend where I have once again been invited to offer my “Kung Fu for Writers” Workshop at the Galiano Literary Festival.
In this workshop, I combine certain Liuhebafa movements with Qigong and Creative Writing exercises to awaken the body and stimulate the mind, enabling people to tap into their raw creative energies. This is the fourth year I have been invited to come and offer this popular workshop at the Galiano Lit Fest.
